Some things to know before donating:

• There is absolutely no obligation for anyone to make a donation.  It is completely voluntary and is not a requisite for membership. Bonanza World will continue to be fully funded by me whether I receive financial support or not.

• You have the choice to donate anonymously or not. If you are a forum member and you want recognition for your donation simply indicate that with your donation and include your username in the notation field with your payment. I will add a donation butterfly icon to your postbit on the forums (the donor badge ). If you wish to remain anonymous do not tell me your username and I won't add the badge. If you are unable to indicate your username when you make the donation (or you forget to) then just email me to let me know you've made the donation and I will add your badge that way.

• Donors need to be aware that they will receive no special treatment on the site over non-donors.  Donors will be moderated like all other posters or asked to leave if they cause disruption, just like any other member. I do not want donors and donations to influence the normal running of the site.

• Donations are non-refundable.  Think long and hard before you make a donation.

• I would prefer donors to donate for PAST benefits they have received from the site, not future ones.  In other words, if you've been here a year and enjoyed your time and want to make a donation, consider it a donation for the enjoyment you've already received.  Who knows, my webhost could go out of business overnight and I cannot make any guarantees about the future existence of the site.

• Finally, I know that some will criticize me for even putting up a donation page, saying that the site is my hobby and therefore it should be at my sole expense.  Running the Bonanza World site started out as a small inexpensive hobby for me over 5 years ago, but over that time we have grown considerably and what was once a cheap hobby has now become a financial obligation of some measure.  My options are limited--I would like to continue the site but I must also be realistic and acknowledge it has grown beyond the scope of a mere hobby. I don't want to use excessive advertsing on the site as a source of income (it would really pain me to have ugly ads all over the place) so seeking outside sources to help support the site is a practical solution. Several members have already expressed an interest in helping out so I am merely formalizing that option for them and others. Again, I wish to repeat that donations are voluntary and are not required for membership or participation on the site.
